Aquamation offers an affordable, environmentally friendly, and gentle alternative to flame cremation. It is estimated that for every flame-based cremation, an average of 534.6 pounds of carbon dioxide are produced. In other words, each cremation produces about the same total emissions as two tanks of gas in an average car. This means that in one year, about 360,000 tons of carbon dioxide are released in the U.S. alone as a result of the cremation industry.Aquamation is an alternative cremation method that uses water flow as opposed to flame. It mimics natural body decomposition that would occur in the soil in a gentler, bio-friendly manner. In addition, Aquamation yields 20-30% more of each pet’s remains than traditional flame-based cremation. With an increasing consumer consciousness about the importance of reducing greenhouse gasemissions, Aquamation has started to become more recognized. Yet, many consumers remain unaware that this option exists for themselves and their loved ones. Why It’s Bio-friendlyAfter the Aquamation process is complete, the remaining water solution, which is a natural by-product of decomposition, is nutrient-rich. This nutrient-rich water can be used as an effective fertilizer for farmers. Compassionate Care Aquamation is experimenting with using our water to use as fertilizer to promote a natural, bio-friendly cycle of life. Compassionate Care Aquamation is fully licensed to operate in NewYork State and meets all Environmental Protection Agency regulations.Additionally, Aquamation does not release harmful greenhouse gasses into the air we share and breathe. The net carbon emissions are 1/10th those that are produced via flame cremation, which relies on naturalgas and combustion reactions. Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide are releasedinto the atmosphere as a result of the gas that powers flame cremation. It is estimated that flame cremation emits over 6.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide each and every year.Aquamation is also very energy efficient. It saves over 90% of the energy used in traditional flame cremation. Aquamation is also water efficient. The process uses less water than a single household in one day. This includes all of the water used for the process, including the water used for cleaning and rinsing the final remains and vessel.Better Than Traditional Flame-Based Cremation?Since flame cremation occurs at 1600-1800°F, some of the remains of your beloved pet are lost as a result of contact with the flame and through the smoke stack. Because Aquamation utilizes gently flowing water without any flame, it results in 20-30% more inorganic materials than flame cremation. With the rising threat of climate change, particularly due to an increase in carbon dioxideemissions, it is important to also consider the environmental impact. There is something trulyholistic and beautiful about the gentleness in the way that Aquamation facilitates a process thatnaturally occurs biologically, and in the way that the organic remains can be placed back into nature’s cycle to continue to be a part of the beauty of the environment.
